| The primary function of the nozzle
is to control the air flow through the turbine.
This flow causes an impulse felt by each bucket
as it passes each nozzle throat opening. The new
web based Nozzle Area & Harmonics program will
be used by service centers worldwide to perform
area and harmonics calculations on both new and
repaired turbines.
For repairs, the program also
calculates the optimal nozzle trailing edge deflections
needed in order to satisfy both the area and harmonic
requirements.
